I have now get everything setup on MyDNSConfig,
Added a couple of zones and records in the zones etc.
Changed my computers resolve.conf to point to the mydsn server.

    1. I can ping the newly added zones no problem
eg ping www.mydomain.com, reply, reply, reply etc.

    2. I can no longer get internet access as the external DNS is no longer resolving
eg I cannot ping " google.com " or any other not in " mydnsconfig " server.

Maybe I missed a step , how do we get the ' root zones ' into mydns ?
Or is it something else entirely

    Thanks guys.

    Please change back your /etc/resolv.conf.

    Done

    Changed back my /etc/resolve.conf

Still curious as to where mydsnconfig stores the " root" server info, is it in the mysql database ?

    Thanks again Falko

mydns is not a resolving nameserver. If you want to use it as a resolver you have to specify the IP address of an external nameserver in the mydns.conf file.
