Hiya I have an old router which supports only a few concurrent connection (like 200 or something) and with the use of P2P it often just fails because of too many connections. Now I'm looking for some kind of very, very small pc and I stumbled accross this howto here: http://www.howtoforge.com/debian_wrap_board_microdrive This setup has like 128 MB Ram and 4 GB diskspace running debian on it. So I wonder would that be a good solution for router/firewall or do you have any other recommendations for a "mini"-pc with low voltage usage that can act as router/firewall/dhcp server? Thx
Well either you invest some money in sth. like a cisco 831 which can surely handle that sum of connections or you by sth. like a shuttle, and install e.g. fli4l (http://www.fli4l.de/), a router, started from a floppy / cd e.g. ipcop (http://ipcop.org/) e.g. or your own linux solving the rest you did. A good firewallscript for iptables could be firehol (firehol.sf.net), just depending on what you need.
