Has anyone had any experience with the equipment needed to handle multiple WAN IP addresses? I had a single static IP address going to a web server through a router. I also have a DNS server running on the same computer. I just got a block of 5 static IP addresses now, but I'm getting no a lot of info on how to set up the system to handle them. My router works fine with a single address, but I'm going to have a second server with it's own public address, and one web site using SSL certificate, which needs it's own IP address. Any advice would be helpfull.
What you're looking for is called a Multi-NAT router. They're usually considerably more expensive than the normal home ADSL units, starting at about GBP100-150 in the Uk lat time I looked. Vigor/Draytek do some, cheapest are probably used/second hand 2Wire 1800's.
That's sounding like where I'm headed. I called Cisco to see what they suggest, and it's a bit expensive. On the other hand, I don't want to get something that messes up an otherwise well set up server.
The 2Wire units are useful because BT use or used them for their Business Broadband customers so there are a lot about. You can pick them up on Ebay UK for 30 pounds or so.
Draytek Multi WAN The Draytek units are extremely good / reliable and easy to configure. Normaly mid priced between consumer and corporate. Never had one fail in four years.
