Hi Gents! I am wondering if its possible to replace SpamAssassin with rspamd on this ubuntu box? I gave it a try following this tutorial "loosely" https://www.howtoforge.com/replacing-amavisd-with-rspamd-in-ispconfig/ but it broke all certs: at least. i stopped the "test" and i am restoring the snapshot currently.
From your initial post, I thought you had installed a new ISPConfig server, and not that you have been using it for about five years already. No current ISPConfig servers are still using Amavis; the auto-installer installs rspamd by default. Before considering replacing the mail filtering system, I recommend you update your server to a recent Ubuntu version and ISPConfig version. The above guide should probably work for Ubuntu as well, but I have not migrated any system to rspamd for years using it. In case this is not an old system, then you should consider using a modern setup installed by the auto-installer right from the start: https://www.howtoforge.com/ispconfig-autoinstall-debian-ubuntu/
ispconfig is current: 3.3.0p2 , i did upgrade with ispconfig_update.sh several times but was always reluctant to upgrade the os because i dont know what happens if i do. the question is what it the "best" way to do it? i guess its not a "do-release-upgrade" and be done its very easy for me to setup a new server, where it becomes unsafe water for me is the ispconfig stuff. how to move everything from old to new? edit: and for your question whether this is being new or old. its "old". i was just extremely lazy on migrating stuff from plesk to ispconfig. *shameonme*
ok, so you've been using ISPConfig for a long time. Your initial questions about SSL certs and which server name to use when setting up an email client sounded as if you have not used ISPConfig before What about using the search function ? https://www.howtoforge.com/update-the-ispconfig-perfect-server-from-ubuntu-20-04-to-ubuntu-22-04/ https://www.howtoforge.com/update-the-ispconfig-perfect-server-from-ubuntu-22-04-to-ubuntu-24-04/ One option is the migration tool: https://www.ispconfig.org/add-ons/ispconfig-migration-tool/ Another option is doing it manually; there are several threads here in the forum that describe what users did to move an installation manually to a new server.
i dont mind buying another migration toolkit license and "throwing some money your way" i really like ispconfig so i guess thats im gonna do "long term" ... read: once i found some time for this project.
