    Hi all,

I still have 2 debian sarge systems installed (both with ispconfig btw). I'm rsyncing the passwd group shadow and gshadow files from server1 to server2. The thing is that I noticed that the new rsynced users on server2 are allways flagged as inactive. Is this normal? (I use the rsync azcq flags..) what can I do to let them be synced as active users on server2

    Greetings,

    Randy

    Where do you see that?

In the kde user manager... I know that I shouldn't install x, but I having moved from opensuse.... it helps me a lot when doing things simultatiously...
Also, on the second server the accounts aren't able to login until I have activated the user in the usermanager. This is offcourse not the intention of the sync.

    Greetings,

    Randy

Do the users' entries in /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow look exactly the same on both servers?

It seems that the passwd was identical but the shadow had many differences. Was a rights issue of the rsync user. I fixed the read rights and they are identical now. Should all be okay.
Thanx for showing me where to look.
