    Here is the link to my conf: http://www.theshipmanfamily.com/smb.conf

    I cannot see MOBY10 from WINXP.

    Can you tell me what have I done wrong?

    There us a user eddie with a password.
    I have a Linksys router and use DHCP for 3 computers.
    The only XP computer I want connecting to Gutsy has IP 192.168.0.101.

    Try changing "security = user" to "security = share"

    I do not know why, I just know on Debian-Based systems it works.

    I was also wondering why you added the "/home" directory when it is listed by default in samba.

    [homes]
    comment = Home Directories
    path = /home
    read only = no
    available = yes
    browseable = yes
    writable = yes
    guest ok = no
    public = no
    printable = no
    share modes = no
    locking = no

    [home]
    path = /home
    comment = Home Directories
    valid users = eddie
    write list =
    admin users = eddie
    read only = no
    available = yes
    browseable = yes
    writable = yes
    guest ok = no
    public = no
    printable = no
    share modes = no
    locking = no
