SASL Login Problems

    Can anyone shed light on what might be causing the issues listed below please:

Dec 15 12:51:25 bitfire postfix/smtpd[11049]: lost connection after AUTH from localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1]
Dec 15 12:51:25 bitfire postfix/smtpd[11049]: disconnect from localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1]
Dec 15 12:51:25 bitfire postfix/smtpd[11049]: connect from localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1]
Dec 15 12:51:25 bitfire postfix/smtpd[11049]: warning: SASL authentication failure: cannot connect to saslauthd server: Permission denied

    Any help would be very appreciated!
