I'm preparing (at long last) to update from Ubuntu 20 LTS to 22 LTS. Thanks to you for having a guide specifically for that now! I really appreciate it.
Once upgraded, I know the default system PHP version will be 8.1, and that ISPConfig will happily use that.
The current recommendation for Nextcloud is PHP 8.2, though. Of course, I can configure that site to use that PHP version.
Is there any good reason not to do that, though? Is there, for example, a performance penalty in having the system/ISPConfig PHP version being 8.1, and Nextcloud using 8.2?

No, and no. It is fine to use other php version for websites in ISPConfig.
