Hi I have a Ubuntu Jaunty System on a Windows Laptop that also runs Windows. Now, I wish to write a simple HTML web page and have it displayed to the outside world as: http://ilangosdomain.com/index.html I would like to avoid hosting fees. Now is such a thing possible? My only understanding so far is that I need to set up Apache Web Server. As an attempt, I came across this web page on How To Forge: http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-server-ubuntu-9.04-ispconfig-2 Here he talks about how his tutorial "shows how to set up an Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope (Ubuntu 9.04) server that offers all services needed by ISPs and hosters:" I do not know if I can use this tutorial to accomplish my objective. I need help in understanding if this tutorial will help me with what I want. My worries are as follows: My ISP is AT&T. They provide wireless internet service. I have a home wireless network that contains my Windows/Ubuntu machine, a Windows XP only machine and a Mac OS X machine. Will the ISP allow me to use his network to host my own web page or run my web server. Your help in understanding my situation is highly appreciated. It will save me time researching endlessly on the internet. Thanks in advance
Yes, you can use this tutorial. You must make sure that AT&T doesn't block port 80. If they don't, then you can host your web site.
