Hi, I use Thunderbird as Client and when I try to send a Mail, it takes up to a Minute until it connects to the server and sends the Mail. This is very annoying. I also have the problem when I try to connect via ssh. It takes quite long and doesn't change if I use the IP Address instead of the domain name Websites are quite fast loaded.
Do you have it set to try TLS and fall back if TLS fails? Perhaps it's attempting to use encryption but can't, so it's failing then falling back to non-encrypted. If you're connecting to your own server, you could try watching the mail logs and see what they say as you try to connect.
No, When I start sending the mail, the bar runs from left to right and back. After some time he starts the login and sending. That's the time when something is written in the mail.log. I think there is some connection problem. It's just the same when I start a ssh connection. Imap and http is very fast.
The other logs don't show errors. I don't know if it is the different sending procedure in thunderbird with imap (no outbox). Maybe it is normal that it takes that long to send a mail. But it takes much longer (about 10-20 sec.) to login by ssh since it set up the server. I t was very much faster when there was only the naked system.
