Server certificate verification failed

    I tried to install php 8.1 and got critical error.
    server certificate verification failed. CAfile: /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt CRLfile: none
    There is no option for server update or any attempt to get anything from internet (git). Always same error. I think problem is an outdated version Stretch (Debian 9). Since I didn't upgrade to 10 and then 11 it looks like there is no other option than format the disc and install latest release of Debian (Debian 11 “Bullseye”).
    If someone knows how to make certificate work or how to update to 10 and then 11 please help.
    For days I searched internet and try every solution and nothing worked. Maybe could be that I deleted some old certificates should not be in use any more.

    A quick search for this error finds quite a few pages addressing it, have you tried something like ? I would certainly not expect the system to be irrecoverable, likely you can get good package sources in place and then update to current OS releases.

    There are various instructions that have worked for people but I often just use the official ones:
