server refuses connection

i have just installed centos 5.2 as a http server. when i try and access the server from a host i get 'server refused connection'. i am sure the problem is trivial and something i am/am not doing. ping works client to server and server to client.

any help greatly appreciated.

have you checked the firewall settings?

 

right on the button. i deactivated the firewall and everything worked.

don't deactivate , just set up the ports you need to be open.
