I can access ispconfig via IP:8080 but when i use the server1.example.com FQDM is not found.
I have set a website in ISP config with example.com domain and set DNS records to ns1.example.com, ns2.example.com
    Any ideas?

Yes, I am new, but I believe this is a dns thing. What if you simply try https://example.com:8080
    no need for subdomain

go to your registrar page, make sure you have 3 A records pointing the right way,
    @ to server ip
    server1 to server ip
    www to to server ip

Also double check your server host name is configured properly,
    configure / double check hostname:
should bring up something like this:
    XXX.XXX.X.XXX server1.example.com server1

reboot and make sure output is good
    eg.
    reboot

    Try it:
    hostname
    hostname -f

    that should return:
    server1
    and
    server1.example.com

Thanks bro. Done all that, DNS was set 48 hours ago and hostnames all checked. I gave up in the end and went to bed woke up and as by magic it's working. But the roundcube which was working has lost its config file typical.
