Hi, ill cut right down to it, currently in my office they pop directly into our ISP's mail server and download mails to each outlook client, example: ISP ---> office outlook I would like to setup a mail server in my office that POP's into the current ISP's mail server and then scans those emails for spam/clamav/rbl blocklists/ and some GIF/jpg spam protection - AND THEN - client officer outlook computers then POP into the server and gets mail from them example ISP --> server with spam protection ---> office outlook I do not want to change MX records to accomodate this, i want it to be a "simple" solution so that it can be implemented with zero hassles essentually ill be setting up the usernames and passwords on the server exactly as they are at the ISP, so that the only thing that needs to be changed on the outlook office client side, which will be the incoming mail server which will be set to the LAN ip address on the mail server ill implement........ now the question is, what should i use to achieve this? i have knowledge on postfix but im sort of stumped on how to setup the server to log into the pop boxes on the isp side and recieve the mail. then scan it for spam and then have it queued on a user so it can be delivered into the outlook clients..... ive looked @ zimbra - www.zimbra.com - but im not sure if this can do what i want, can anyone point me in the right direction on how i go about this? thanks in advance!
This is exactly what our 42go Spamfilter does ( http://www.projektfarm.de/en_spam_filter.html ). You can use fetchmail for it. You can use Postfix together with amavisd-new + SpamAssassin/ClamAV for this.
