Hi everyone. First of all, this is a repost of this thread (which can now be deleted), as I don't think my question was worded very well as I was unsure what I needed to do. I'm trying to figure out how to setup "www.mydomain.tld" and "mydomain.tld" (the host I entered during setup) so it points to a main Web site. Please could someone briefly explain the steps I need to carry out in order to do this? I can see how to add new customers and resellers, but I'm not sure if this is what I need to do. Till suggested adding co-domains, but there is no site to add co-domains to. At the moment, going to "www.mydomain.tld" displays "It works!", which is the Apache default. Does this mean the installation has gone wrong? I don't have any sites setup at the moment, nor do I have any DNS entries, so it's a fresh slate. I'd be happy to write this up as a howto if I am not the only one who can't figure this out. If I can figure it out... I am also having a problem with Firefox 3 where I load a page in ISPConfig, but the menu on the left doesn't load unless I hit the "stop" button. The status bar in my browser reads "Transferring data from mydomain.tld...", but doesn't stop until I tell it to, which is when it loads the page. I never used to have this problem, but now I do, and it also happens on the demo page for ISPConfig. Has anyone else experienced this before? Clearing cache and cookies makes no difference, but the menu displays fine in Konqueror.
There is no such thing a s a main webite. Just add a website www.mydomain.tld with a co-domain mydomain.tld.
Wow. I finally got it to work first time! Thanks. I don't know what I was doing wrong last time, but it kept telling me that it already existed, when I don't see how it did. Most likely my error. Still no sure about why the left-hand menu is not displaying until I click "stop" in Firefox 3. Any ideas there?
After trying out the the ISPConfig CP on another machine, it became evident and Firebug for Firefox 3 has a problem with parsing the CP, and that's what it doesn't show until I hit the "Stop" button. Disabling Firebug works, although for some reason I can't seem to disable just for my domain. My guess is that Firebug isn't happy with frames on the page, as the markup doesn't actually validate on the WC3 Validator. I may try to fix this markup if I can find time to, although I'm guessing there is a reason for the invalid markup?
There is no special reason for the markup, its just old. Some parts of the html are nearly 8 or 9 years old.
Before I commence work on the HTML, I need to know a few things. With ISPConfig 3 having been released, will ISPConfig 2 be discontinued? If so, then it will be a waste of time for me to start work on getting the HTML to validate. I tried to install version 3, and had lots of dependency issues which I couldn't seem to solve, so I stuck with version 2. Is version 3 ready to be used on a production server? I've been trying to find a demo online, but I can't. Is there a demo available? I'm also interested to know if you are familiar with the MVC design pattern. I think you have a great product, but I find it quite daunting trying to find and fix HTML. If MVC had been used, I wouldn't have to worry about breaking any of your code as I would be editing only pure HTML. With that said, MVC is not for everyone, but I find it extremely useful myself. No, it wont be discontinued. But personally I wont start working on the html markup of ISPConfig 2, instead I would recommend to work on ISPConfig 3. I guess you did not look at ISPConfig 3, it is mvc and 100% template based.
Till, a question you missed. Is ISPConfig 3 ready for use on a production server? I just can't afford to setup several sites only to find I need to down grade ISPConfig. Thanks!
I just installed ISPConfig 3 beta, and I have to say it looks great, and it's really speedy, however, I feel completely clueless and I am having much trouble getting it to do what I want. The back button in my browsers no longer works as expected, and on version 2, an option to have a DNS entry added for the site was given, but I can't seem to find that option here. When I try to add a DNS entry, I am prompted for "Email", no matter what I enter, I'm told it's an invalid format. Very strange... This is not me complaining. I understand it's in the beta stage, but I thought I should give some feedback on it. It's still a great product, and it has the potential to be one of the best of it's kind. In the meantime, I think I am going to go back to version 2.
