Should I upgrade Debian 6.0 to 7.0?

    I have IPSConfig 3.0.5.4p3 running in multi-config with 5 Debian 6.0 servers.

Would it be good to upgrade to the Debian 7.0?

or should I have used Ubuntu 14 to begin with?

I choose that one because it was stable version and that's what the guide had for the server setup I wanted. But I'm wondering if I should have used a newer version.

    You can go for it.

You can also use this distribution, but better to go for 14.04 Ubuntu

Debian is a good choice for your server, I use that for my servers as well and prefer it over Ubuntu. But you should update Debian rom 6 to 7 to ensure that you get updates in future.

you can use e.g. this guide:

    http://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-upgrade-debian-squeeze-to-wheezy

you can choose to keep the old config files when the updater asks you.

adter the update, download the ispconfig tar.gz again, unpack it and run the update.php script in the install folder. choose to reconfigure services during update. This will update the config files from debian 6 to 7.

I updated the name server ns2 to Debian 7.0 it worked and ISPconfig sees that it's a new version and seems to be running still. I'm going to proceed and update all other servers. Then...

After that I go to each server and download ispconfig and run update.php instead of install.

    1) Should I do the main control server first?

    2) After update all servers then can I run: ispconfig_update.sh
to go from 3.0.5.4p3 to 3.0.5.4p5 of ISPconfig?
