    Good day to all.

I had one problem with SMTP after installing ISPConfig on my server.

I need to use plain authenification with [email protected] login and password. When i sending mail from my mail client software, server responds "Error 535, authenification failed"
But - when I use domain.tld_user login and the same password - all sending good.
What i need to do to fix that problem? I can't use domain.tld_user login in any case :(

a.f.a.i.k. you can not do this (it's got to do with the virtual users)

The only way to use SMTP is the "webNR_name" option (like you did in your 2nd. example)

But why? I've rent an reseller account on Linux host with CPanel before, and there was user@domain logins for POP3 and SMTP authenification both.

Now my VPS is with Fedora Core 5 - i think, it's a Linux too ;)

It's the way ISPconfg handels the virtual users.
ISPconfig was designed to work like that.
