Solved: DNS behind VPS

Discussion in 'Installation/Configuration' started by leonardo.saracini, Oct 25, 2020.

  1. I think that DNS inside VPS cannot propagate to external server.
I write this post to have a confirm that there isn't a tool or what ever to propagate dns value out to server on which VPS is running.
Now I manual copy it outside VPS.

    best regards

I'm not sure what you mean... You added the ISPConfig tag, so I suppose you use ISPConfig, though you posted under the Linux board and not the ISPConfig board.

Are you trying to configure DNS in ISPConfig and apply these changes at a external nameserver provider? Or something else?

  3. Yes I use ISPConfig. On it you can create DKim signature, add CNAME, record A, record TXT ... but if you are inside a VPS all is unusefull untill you manual copy on provider interface (provider DNS manager).

I wonder if exist a procedure or a tool to automate this manual step.

I think no but I can be in error...

The DNS module in ISPConfig can be used if you host your own nameservers.

Some providers provide secondary zone services. If your DNS provider has a service like that, you can use it to push your changes to their servers. ISPConfig currently doesn't support connecting over a API to a external DNS provider.

  5. Thank you I do not know that some provider offer a secondari zone service.
    I will check mine.
