Hi everyone, I suppose I have a ntp problem using "The perfect server Cent0s 5.2 VM Ware image. Clock time is unconstantly not correct and I have message "set_rtc_mmss: can't update from 59 to 0 " when I don't login immediately after reboot. I found this in this topic: http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19414&highlight=set_rtc_mmss Using a "brutal method" by simply removing ntpd from init.d folder cleared " " message but could only be used for testing !! Clock time is actually 25 minutes later than correct time. This wrong time is confirmed when running /etc/init.d/ntpd ! Running this command after stopping ntpd Code: ntpdate pool.ntp.org catches the correct time. So it works "from within a VM " ! So what's the best way to avoid this set_rtc_mmss message and keep this Cent0s server clock always at the correct time? Great Thanks for your help or comments Camomille
Thanks for your answer Falko ! It didn't help. I think the problem comes from my machine ( Suse 10.2 + VM server 1.05) !! No problem when running on an other pc running VMware server 2.0 on Ubuntu 8.04 !! I have now reinstalled the pc with VMWare server 2.0 on Fedora 9 but .... see other topic Great thanks for the help.
