Hi, First off I want to say how happy I am with the system, I know ISPConfig3 is still fairly new but its rich in features.

    Question 1

i have "VIRTUALCHROOT=true" in my config file, as we obviously dont want people ftping in getting out of their "home" but a user can not access the backup folder via FTP, the backup folder is linked to the actual backup folder in /var/backup/web(x)

    Question 2

Is there any way that I can allow the reseller or the client to enable backups on their own site, a large portion of a control panel is to take administrative overhead away from the administrators, and let the clients and users do their own thing, however it seems a little backwards to me that a user or reseller can't set backups for their / their clients sites.

    Question 3

Backing up. What folders should I back up?
    I am assuming

    /var/www
    /var/backup
    /var/vmail

and unless there is a scripted mysqldump that I don't know about maybe i should backup the DB on a cron. 1 script for each day of the week. then simply rsync the data to a backup server?

Where do I find the user and group files? - I know that's a daft question but I don't have much Linux background as I am a FreeBSD admin and there are some differences between the OS's

    Question 4

Are there any write ups / how-to's on how to set up a slave DNS server so that when a domain is added to ISPConfig3 its also added to the slave DNS server, The server is currently setup to use BIND, I am sure I can change that if need be, I usually use PowerDNS but I don't see support for it in ISPConfig. I am not familiar with MyDNS, but if that's the best way forward I am sure its easy enough.

I bought the Manual, and unless I missed it the above questions where not in it or not completely answered.

Lastly the ISPConfig Billing module, :) just what I need, is there any news on the development of this, an estimated release date, also will it need to be purchased? I don't have a problem with buying the module, the way I see it if I am making money off the servers and using the billing module there is no harm in paying for it.

    1) should be fixed with 3.0.3.3
    2) Currently only admins can enable the backups.
    3) There are a few backup scripts available in the tipps & tricks subforum.
    4) see here for multiserver installs: http://www.howtoforge.com/installin...tabase-servers-on-debian-5.0-with-ispconfig-3

The billing module is finished. We are currently writing the documentation, the module will be officially released when the manual for the billing module is finished. If you like to buy it right now and receive the manual later, then please contact me under info [at] projektfarm [dot] de
