I'm a noob - migrating from XP. I have sound partly working (audacious Yes, Skype No) but don't really know how to manage the settings. Would like to see a summary or 'how to' on choosing/installing correct driver, Alsa/Alsaconf, Pulse, OSS, mixer options (eg with only 2 speakers - can I remove the front/back items... what is LFE?), Volume (output level much lower on Linux using same external amp setting), etc. There is a Skype on Fedora9 'howto' which said to create a user account for pulse - which maybe the right thing to do - but adds to my confusion over sound setup. thanks for any advice/links... ps- this ALSA setup page at redhat.com may help get alsa working if you are stuck.
