Hello fellow HTF friends, I searched the site but couldn't quite find an exact answer on the following, need a little clarity. I would like to setup my webmail to webmail.mailserver.com instead of mailserver.com/webmail. Correct me if I'm wrong. To achieve this, would i have to enable webserver services on my mail sever in order for bind to respond to the request given to mailserver.com? I read that i would need to create a website for webmail.mailserver.com. How could it get it to work due to the root location for squirrelmail being on the mail sever?
Add to name service webmail.mailserver.com pointing to your mail server. Create website webmail.mailserver.com and make it redirect to /webmail. If you need HTTPS certificate for webmail.mailserver.com, https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial/securing-ispconfig-3-with-a-free-lets-encrypt-ssl-certificate/ I'm not sure I understand that question. Do you have a separate e-mail server? On my setup where e-mail server is separate, I have not enabled Webserver in ISPConfig System | Server Services for that host. Bind responds are not involved here, or I did not understand the question at all. Are you really using squirrelmail? Is it still supported in ISPConfig? What version ISPConfig are you running? Anyway, Dovecot is supported and works.
I actually already achieved the above. I am trying to run squirrellmail as the default interface and nod ispconfig login screen. I alos run dovecot but i don't think my squirrellmail issue relates to dovecot.
@Taleman asked some pertinent questions you did not answer, there's not much point in repeating them. It's not clear how many servers you have involved and how you have them or intend to set them up .. so no, probably noone will be helping much without more information.
My setup is a multi server setup, separate mail server running dovecot. I am running ISPConfig 3.1.13
