Squirrelmail not receiving from external - Ispconfig 3 Greetings, First of all, Im not the brightest crayon when it comes to linux and everything is still a learning curve for me. Ive been Looking through the forums for solutions to this and cant seem to get my squirrelmail working correctly. Ive set up VPS WEbserver using ISPCONFIG 3, NGinx, Dovecot and Squirrelmail. I have Created the Email mailbox "[email protected]" and can login in to the webmail. I am able to send a message from the "[email protected]" to any external mail account (Gmail, Yahoo etc) and this works fine, I can also send and Recieve mails internally on this server, But if i try send a email to this address "[email protected]" from an external address, Say Gmail, Yahoo etc.. I dont not recieve anything and no bounce back errors. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Please have a look in the mail.lo (/var/log/mail.log) what happens at the time the mail should arrive at the server. Maybe the sending server is blocked or there is a DNS error. Have you checked the MX - Record for your domain.tld is correct and points to your server?
Hi..Below is the last few minutes of the mail.log when i try to send to the email address. If I ping Pop3.domain.tld it points to my VPS IP address, But also, If i enter it in the browser address bar it takes me to my domains landing page. On my ISPconfig DNS records. I have the DNS records as follows: MX Record - hostname as "domain.tld" Mailserver hostname as "pop3.domain.tld" Priority 10 TTL 86400 Active is checked A Record - hostname as "pop3" IP Address as VPS IP address TTL 86400 Active is checked Hope this helps
Can you send OUT mails both via smtp and smtps (ssl enabled)? It seems to me the external servers connect to ssl port and can't do the handshake correctly. Maybe your SSL configuration of the mailserver is broken...?
Ok Well things may get complicated here now for me, lol.. Well im using the squirrelmail webmail, If i try use thunderbird to connect to the servers pop3.domain.tld and smtp.domain.tld i dont get any connection to the servers to set up the account thats also with trying different authentications and secure method. I can access the webmail, but only using http://x.x.x.x:8081/squirrelmail If i use https://x.x.x.x:8081/squirrelmail or http(or s)://domain.tld:8081/squirrelmail I dont get any page to load. I am also using Cloudflare for the NS records for the domain, So that may also complicate things a bit. Think maybe i should take off cloudflare and see if thats causing issues.?
Hm... Could you please post the output of "lsof -i" and "iptables -L -n" ? This url is normally not ssl enabled, so that's "ok".
Ok, Well i Have removed Cloudflare completely and using my own Nameservers for the domain. which it resolves to now This has not helped with anything, but may make it easier. I notice if i disable imap option it wont let me log into the squirrelmail webmail. If anyone can think of anything to try, Unfortunately the site has been running a while and its quite busy, so dont want to have to reinstall the server and have downtime. Thanks

Shoul use cat instead of vi (bottom of file was missing). Seems you forgot to uncomment the "submission" and "smtps" entries. Remove the # in those two lines and restart postfix please.
Haha, Sorry about that.. and there i learn something new, Im a total n00b. lol Her you go, thanks Code: root@vps:~# cat /etc/postfix/master.cf # # Postfix master process configuration file. Still getting the same bounceback message in gmail when trying to send to [email protected].. But wasnt not getting these when using cloudflare, only been getting the bouncebacks, since i removed the MX and A record from cloudflare and changed Domain Nameservers back to my server, A quick Dns checker and ping from my pc is showing my nameservers now and should be using the shame MX and A records as earlier. Could it be a issue with Google propagating to the new DNS or should i maybe change the nameservers now back to cloudflare, and ad the MX and A records in cloudflare? At least to check if all is ok now, you might want to change those dns things back. DNS is often cached for up to 24 hours.
