Sub-domains and how to do it!

I'm trying to set up a web site on a sub-domain.

I've got the DNS stuff working properly, but not, I fear, the redirection.

Host... sub

Domain... domain.com

Redirect Type... R,L

Redirect Path... /path/that/hangs/from/root/

The path points to the directory that contains index.html and all I can get from FFox is a "Server not found".

Obviously I've got sumfink wrong.

So, dear forum gurus, where did I FUBAR?

Can you check if the DNS record for sub.domain.com is correct?
