subdomain settings

Hi all,

please help.
I create folder "subfolder" in website.

So link www.mydomain.ltd/subfolder works OK.

I create subdomain for website:

so link subfolder.mydomain.ltd will forward to www.mydomain.ltd/subfolder

BUT I would like to keep url to http://subfolder.mydomain.ltd ..

How do I set it ?

Does it create something more than normal subdomain? (folder, hosting etc? ) or only modify apache?

If you can please, can you explain me the the difference?
