    Hello everybody,

I have been searching for several hours (actually two days) to find an answer for this but so far to no avail.

OK, Here's the deal. I have ISPConfig installed and configured on CentOS 4.5. I have a primary web site setup and to the best that i can figure out thus far, the domain is routing correctly and i can view a test/sample html page uploaded to that site's web directory.

I then decided to setup my first client's website, and went through the correct process (setting up a new client, adding a new site to that client, setting all the features, etc.), however, I can not view that web page via the internet using the subdomain.

    For example:

www.domain.net loads correctly via the internet
subdomain.domain.net doesnt load at all via the internet

Also, the DNS servers have been setup to those provided by the place that i purchased my domain from. I'm confused as to if I need to setup my own dns server and how I would go about doing so to make the subdomains work correctly. I have tried everything from changing the DNS servers to my server's IP to the primary domain name that routes to the ip to the ones listed when i do a DNS check through my domain name ctrl panel. (BIND is installed on the webserver and shows an OK status through the status window in ISPConfig.)

I am pretty new to linux and am extremely new to ISPConfig. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Blaise :D

You do not have to use the ISPConfig dns server when you use the DNS service of the company where you registered the domain.

May you please post your real domains, this will help us to find the problem.

Okay, so i suddenly had a spot of inginuity.

I just checked on my domain control panel via the provider of my domain and noticed there was a place to add subdomains (with a limit of 5). So i just tried adding the subdomain i wanted, it won't be until tomorrow til i know cuz im exhausted and it takes about 3 hours to update.

Out of curiosity, how would I go about not having to do this with the provider of my domain name? Would I need to use the ISPConfig DNS Server and transfer my domain to that DNS server?

Sorry, i dont really know anything about DNS so thanks for your patience.

Well it didnt work with my domain provider...the subdomain is now registered and it comes up with their default page, but it doesnt direct to the server.

I will check those out later on this evening and update accordingly. Thanks for the help, Till.
