Hi, I have set up a Ubuntu 9.10 Server using the Perfect Server ISPconfig guide which was really helpful so thanks for that. What I can't get to work is subdomains. When I create a subdomain, where are the files stored for it? On a domain I set up in ISPconfig (http://1.voupe.com) it shows the files from the subdomain (the default website). I have looked in the root of where the 1.voupe.com is stored (voupe.com is currently hosted on a different server which I want to move over to this new server) but can only find where the files for the website go and not the subdomain. Thanks Dean
This depends on how you create the subdomains. If you want a separate directory for the files of this subdomain, create a new website. If the files of this subdomain shall be in the same directory then a existing website, then click on new subdomain and select the website where the files shall belong to.
I have setup a site with webmail.mydomain.com but it's pointing to mydomain.com. All the search I have done on the forum says for subdomain just create new website, that's what I did so what am I missing here. TIA
Maybe you selected auto subdomain * instead of auto subdomain www in the website settings of the website mydomain.com. A wildcard drives the traffic of all subdomains of a given site to this site.
You are quick just found this with the same answer by you guess I have to search harder next time. Till but what is the preferred way of setting the auto subdomain at the subdomain site. Or doesn't it matter
