I'm sorry to ask you that but maybe you could be a little bit more specific. I have to decide right now if I should install a new system on 10.0 or 10.1. If you mean a few weeks, I'll take 10.0 but if you mean a few days I'll wait for it. Thank you!

I expect the release in a few days. But I dont recommend to jump on the latest release of a linux distro a few days after the relaese. In our tests SUSE 10.1 has still some minor problems witch the new package management system.

If you want to know my personal opinion: SuSE 10.1 is the worst SuSE version I've ever seen. That's an excerpt of a mail I wrote to a friend yesterday about SuSE 10.1:

CDs. Unfortunately it doesn't work. It has never worked in previous
versions, but I thought maybe with the new release the netinstall would
work. So I downloaded the 5 x86_64 CDs and installed it. After the basic
installation (which looks exactly like 10.0) I started yast to change the
installation source from the CDs to http. So I entered ftp.uni-erlangen.de
with the correct path and moved it to position 1 in the installation sources
list (and the CDs to position 2), then I hit "Finish". But nothing hapened,
it seemed as if yast would hang. I tried another 5 times, with different
mirrors and http and ftp, etc. but it always seemed as if yast would hang.
So I decided to have a look at /var/log/YaST2/y2log, and I found out that
yast wasn't hanging, but working. So I tried again to change the
installation sources and had a look at the log in a second command window.
Guess what: it took 10 minutes (no joke!) until yast saved the changes.
So I thought I could finally go on and install packages with the yast -i
command. But suddenly SuSE wanted me to put the SuSE CDs into the CD drive,
although I had put the CDs to position 2. So I checked again in yast, and -
yast had moved the CDs to position 1 again! So I changed the positions and
tried again, and again the same result. So I had to delete the CDs
completely from the installation sources.
Later on, when I configured quota, a "mount -o remount /" didn't work, I had
to reboot the system until I could get quota to work.
And finally, I wanted to compile ProFTPd, but I didn't succeed, although I
have gcc and all the stuff installed. Seems to be some compatibility issue
because it's a x86_64 system.
Now I'm wasting another 5 CDs for the i386 version, hopefully that will
work.
