Suse 11 On XP

    I am using windows XP. And I wanted to install Suse 11 on the same machine.
    the partition of IDE Drive are as under.

    C - NTFS Formated - Left For Suse Installation
    D - NTFS : Windows XP Installed
    D - NTFS : For Data

    Can any one guide me how to tell Suse to Install on C & use only C for linux partition.

    ok mate this hows its goes

    step 1 . BACKUP all UR FILES YOU CANT LIVE WITHOUT!!! < do it just as a fail safe >

    step 2

    ok when u going to install suse it will partation the drive for you

    ok say u got 500 GB HDD
    150 GB C:\
    150 d:\
    about 180 gb free

    suse like all linux OS will use an owns file system and cant be installed to like c:\
    it will need that partion of space to be edited up

    into two parts
    one for the OS < root level file system > /
    and one for swap / memory

    sorry cant be much more help than that ... haven't had to install any linux and XP system together ...

    but : once it installed will you / should be able to pick to boot into XP from the boot load menu

    zcworld: I just tend to think that step1 is unnecessary. You should have ALWAYS up-to-date backups. You never know when your hardware just fails.

    but how many people do have an backups of there KEY files ..
