I'm considering to install syslog-ng on my ispconfig Debian 3.1 server and wondered which log files are used by ispconfig and which settings I therefore should try not to touch.
    Anyone done this before?

ISPConfig does not use syslog at all for logging. Only the installed services like postfix, mysql, etc. may use syslog.

I was under the impression that ispconfig would use log files produced by syslog as input when calculating traffic. Good to learn this is not the case, thanks!

ISPConfig uses these logfiles to calculate traffic, but they where not created by ispconfig.

well, my original question was which log files are used by ispconfig (for input, I should have added), but I might as well ask: where in the ispconfig-scripts is the best place to start looking this up myself?

Thanks in advance for you input

The log files are listed in ISPConfig's server settings: Management -> Server -> Settings.
