Not sure if this is directly related, maybe its a timely coincidence of another change. Please check the sys_user table in the dbispconfig database with phpmyadmin, search for the admin user and check the modules field in the database for that user, it contains a comma separated list of the modules that are visible for the admin, does it contain a module with the name "admin" (which is the internal name of the system module)?
