In my last thread I have requested a The Perfect Desktop Xubuntu 13.04 guide to be added to howtoforge and also explained what the advantages of using Xubuntu are (as a close alternative to Knoppix but with a better distribution upgrade system). If someone wants similar functionality and advantages in a distro, but with a lighter (the lightest in the Ubuntu family) and more hardware friendly setup compared to Xubuntu, I would suggest Lubuntu, which uses the lightweight LXDE desktop environment (Xubuntu uses XFCE). I have noticed that The Perfect Desktop Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Xubuntu guides are regularly added to howtoforge with each new release. I don't think Lubuntu should be left out because it has proved to be a very efficient distribution for many Ubuntu family fans.
