I have followed the guide to creating the perfect
Xen 3.0.3 install on Debian Sarge. I have managed to get a Dom0 to boot
(this was a bit of an effort as Yaird didn't like my RAID setup and
initramfs doesn't want to install from backports! In the end I upgraded
the machine to unstable, build an initramfs, copied the initramfs off the
machine and reinstalled Sarge! It was messy but it worked!) however I
cannot boot a DomU. It complains about vif0 and says that Hotpluging
support is not working. I have found a great many references to this on
google but noone of them seem to solve my problem. Most seem to relate to
a problem with udev. I am assuming the howto doesn't use udev? Does anyone
have any ideas what is causing the hotplugging problems? I have searched
and searched but I can't figure it out.

What are the exact error messages?

The tutorial uses the Xen 3.0.3 kernel (2.6.16.29, if I remember correctly) which uses udev, so that should not be a problem.
