    Good Day:

    I recently posted a threat which was successfully resolved.

    https://www.howtoforge.com/communit...upgraded-from-14-04-server.80318/#post-380868

    Now that we have this up and running, I realized that the banner is specified to show not just the FQDN but the Mail Server Software type and Mail transfer agent type, like so:

    smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $mail_name (Ubuntu)

    Is this something that should be addressed (like editing the banner to just show the FQDN), or is it a common practice to leave it as it is.

    Your comments are welcomed.

    Best Regards,

    The smtp banner as you have it now is the default as set by Ubuntu. If you feel safer by hiding that you use Ubuntu, then edit it.
