Hi people. I'm getting some problems on thunderbird clients. When they install thunder bird for the first time and they use de mail account setup for the first time they cannot connect and thunderbird says "configuration could not be verified-is the username or password wrong?" On the server side it shows Code: Aug 13 17:10:22 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2618]: disconnect from unknown[86.104.128.77] Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx dovecot: imap-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=xx.xx.xx.xx Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx dovecot: pop3-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=xx.xx.xx.xx Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx dovecot: imap-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=xx.xx.xx.xx Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2723]: connect from axx-xx-xx-xx.cpe.netcabo.pt[xx.xx.xx.xx] Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2618]: connect from axx-xx-xx-xx.cpe.netcabo.pt[xx.xx.xx.xx] Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx dovecot: pop3-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=xx.xx.xx.xx Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx dovecot: imap-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=xx.xx.xx.xx Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2618]: disconnect from axx-xx-xx-xx.cpe.netcabo.pt[xx.xx.xx.xx] Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2723]: disconnect from axx-xx-xx-xx.cpe.netcabo.pt[xx.xx.xx.xx] Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2618]: connect from axx-xx-xx-xx.cpe.netcabo.pt[xx.xx.xx.xx] Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2723]: connect from axx-xx-xx-xx.cpe.netcabo.pt[xx.xx.xx.xx] Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx dovecot: pop3-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=xx.xx.xx.xx Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx dovecot: pop3-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=xx.xx.xx.xx Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2723]: improper command pipelining after EHLO from axx-xx-xx-xx.cpe.netcabo.pt[xx.xx.xx.xx] Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2618]: improper command pipelining after EHLO from axx-xx-xx-xx.cpe.netcabo.pt[xx.xx.xx.xx] Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx dovecot: imap-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=xx.xx.xx.xx Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2723]: disconnect from axx-xx-xx-xx.cpe.netcabo.pt[xx.xx.xx.xx] Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2618]: disconnect from axx-xx-xx-xx.cpe.netcabo.pt[xx.xx.xx.xx] Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2723]: connect from axx-xx-xx-xx.cpe.netcabo.pt[xx.xx.xx.xx] Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2618]: connect from axx-xx-xx-xx.cpe.netcabo.pt[xx.xx.xx.xx] Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx dovecot: pop3-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=xx.xx.xx.xx Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx dovecot: imap-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=xx.xx.xx.xx Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx dovecot: imap-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=xx.xx.xx.xx Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2723]: improper command pipelining after EHLO from axx-xx-xx-xx.cpe.netcabo.pt[xx.xx.xx.xx] Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2723]: disconnect from axx-xx-xx-xx.cpe.netcabo.pt[xx.xx.xx.xx] Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2618]: improper command pipelining after EHLO from axx-xx-xx-xx.cpe.netcabo.pt[xx.xx.xx.xx] Aug 13 17:10:23 xxxxxx postfix/smtpd[2618]: disconnect from axx-xx-xx-xx.cpe.netcabo.pt[xx.xx.xx.xx] Aug 13 17:10:24 xxxxxx dovecot: pop3-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=xx.xx.xx.xx Aug 13 17:10:36 xxxxxx dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=xx.xx.xx.xx, TLS: SSL_read() failed: error:14094418:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:tlsv1 alert unknown ca Aug 13 17:10:36 xxxxxx dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=xx.xx.xx.xx, TLS: SSL_read() failed: error:14094418:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:tlsv1 alert unknown ca And i know for sure that the login and password are right. i'm using isp config 3.0.4.5 on debian squeeze Any ideas??
Hi Falko i have used the following guide: http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-server-debian-squeeze-with-bind-and-dovecot-ispconfig-3
Hi Falko. I dont know if you are referring to this: Code: ## ISPConfig3 Template file. ## This file was installed by ISPConfig3 ## It will be replaced if ISPConfig3 is updated. ## Dovecot configuration file base_dir = /var/run/dovecot/ protocols = imap imaps pop3 pop3s #protocols = imaps pop3s disable_plaintext_auth = no log_timestamp = "%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S " # ssl_cert_file = /etc/ssl/_.my-domain.tld/_.my-domain.tld.crt # ssl_key_file = /etc/ssl/_.my-domain.tld/_.my-domain.tld.key ssl_cert_file = /etc/postfix/smtpd.cert ssl_key_file = /etc/postfix/smtpd.key mail_privileged_group = mail login_greeting = ISPConfig3 IMAP server ready... ## IMAP specific settings protocol imap { mail_executable = /usr/lib/dovecot/rawlog /usr/lib/dovecot/imap mail_plugins = quota imap_quota } ## POP3 specific settings protocol pop3 { mail_executable = /usr/lib/dovecot/rawlog /usr/lib/dovecot/pop3 pop3_uidl_format = %08Xu%08Xv mail_plugins = quota } ## LDA specific settings protocol lda { # Address to use when sending rejection mails. postmaster_address = [email protected] # Support for dynamically loadable plugins. mail_plugins is a space separated # list of plugins to load. mail_plugin_dir = /usr/lib/dovecot/modules/lda # UNIX socket path to master authentication server to find users. auth_socket_path = /var/run/dovecot/auth-master # Enabling Sieve plugin for server-side mail filtering mail_plugins = sieve quota } ## Plugin settings plugin { quota = dict:user::file:/var/vmail/%d/%n/.quotausage # Because the mail quota is called in the user query # the maildir quota does not need to be set. # You do not need: quota = maildir sieve=/var/vmail/%d/%n/.sieve } ## Authentication processes # Executable location #auth_executable = /usr/lib/dovecot/dovecot-auth auth default { mechanisms = plain login # SQL database <doc/wiki/AuthDatabase.SQL.txt> passdb sql { # Path for SQL configuration file args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-sql.conf } # new quota support: userdb prefetch { } userdb sql { args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-sql.conf } ## dovecot-lda specific settings ## socket listen { master { path = /var/run/dovecot/auth-master mode = 0600 user = vmail # User running Dovecot LDA #group = vmail # Or alternatively mode 0660 + LDA user in this group } client { path = /var/spool/postfix/private/auth mode = 0660 user = postfix group = postfix } } } mail_location = maildir:/var/vmail/%d/%n/Maildir mail_uid = 5000 mail_gid = 5000 The problem is when thunderbird finish installation and starts the first time configuration. All-ways says "configuration could not be verified-is the username or password wrong?" on server side: Code: Aug 20 09:50:05 xxxxx dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=77.91.201.79, TLS: SSL_read() failed: error:14094418:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:tlsv1 alert unknown ca Aug 20 09:50:05 xxxxx dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=77.91.201.79, TLS: SSL_read() failed: error:14094418:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:tlsv1 alert unknown ca Aug 20 09:50:07 xxxxx dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=77.91.201.79, TLS: SSL_read() failed: error:14094418:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:tlsv1 alert unknown ca Aug 20 09:50:07 xxxxx dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=77.91.201.79, TLS: SSL_read() failed: error:14094418:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:tlsv1 alert unknown ca
Please check if thunderbird really uses the correct username as the latest Thunderbird versions have a bug in the account creation tool. Thunderbird changes the username from "[email protected]" to "user" without notification. Click on details or manual configuration and change the username back so that the full email address is used as username and not just the part in front of the @. If this wont help, try to select to use a unencrypted connection.
Hi till you where right if i put impa without SSL it works great. But how can i put imap working with SSL and without SSL?
