Hi there, recently we start to use ISPconfig to integrate web, mail and ftp services. It is really wonderful. but in installing stage unfortunately we use default setting and now all users account is storing in /etc/passwd. I think it is very dangerous for this file to be large. so I deside to transfer ISPconfig and so postfix accounts to mysql database. can I do this on a working ISPconfig? and how? thanks very much for attentions. freesqrt,
Dear falko, Thanks for quick reply, but what you suggest for this issue? no way to control this increasingly growth on system files? Sicerely, freesqrt
Some times ago I would to implement a domain controler on samba. I found that in a LAN with less than 250 users it is a good idea to save them in unix account manager but with more than this, it is better to manage accounts with another system such as OpenLdap or ... . So I think embeded UNIX account manager is not suitable to deal with about 800 accounts on my sites. specially with such ISPconfig behavior that create 2 account (for mail and ftp) for each defined user. Regards,
Thank you Falko, I found that one account has been created for each user. but another time the old enquiry: haven't you any idea to transfer acounts to a stronger structure? Regards,
