We run our own isp server, (ISPConfig based, of course) but rely on a couple of static dns servers for resolution. So all the zone and reverse ip files are on those servers. not ours.

Our mail is going out with a from header that shows the host address of the dns server, like this:

    from cl-t023-040cl.mediascopeplus.com (ip-72-55-140-173.static.privatedns.com [72.55.140.173])

we are "mediascopeplus.com" the "static.privatedns.com" address is from the reverse dns as served up by the dns server involved.

This causes bounces, especially AOL, as they say it appears that we don't own the domain name we are using. Is there some way of configuring postfix to ignore the lart part of this information and simply send a reverse line that says From (fr example) from: bloggs.com (ip-72-55-140-173.bloggs.com [72.55.150.173]

    How would you configure that?

    Thanks.

You will have to tell your provider, the one that assigned you the IP address, that they shall create a reverse record for the IP pointing to mediascopeplus.com.
