    Dear Sir,
I installed ubuntu 12.04.5 server with ispconfig3 for a few years, and now want to upgrade to ubuntu 14.04.5 and then 16.04.5.
should i directly upgrade ubuntu from 12.04.5 to 14.04.5 and then 16.04.5, and the ispconfig3 should work well after the upgrade?
do you have any information for this task?
    thank you very much.
    Best regards,
    Q.D.S.

Im same as you, make sure what ever you do, create a full backup, best kind is a clone for what is needed.
most config, will need replacing, so keep your SSH open before your start, and then also download a copy of each file at the stage when asked to keep or replace, this will will help. for you to have quick access to file mod changes that you made, that you will need to reapply to newer files later, you only need to do this once, and also make sure your filesystem is stable before then moving on to 16.04 of it will fail.

It should work fine if done properly. Keep a good working backup for all database and customize things, just in case.
