    Hi,
    I'm getting
    postmulti[6486]: fatal: bad string length 0 < 1: setgid_group =
in the /var/log/mail.log after starting postfix
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    gvvg

    Haha
Of course I did that before posting here Till :)
I did comment out the setgid_group
    did run postmap /etc/postfix
    restart
    I got in /var/log/mail.log
    postfix[6836]: fatal: bad string length 0 < 1: sendmail_path =

I should have also mentioned this ispconfig was installed by Florian
I should have also mentioned I tried
    setgid_group = postdrop
    postmap /etc/postfix
    restart postfix
Aug 3 13:16:26 cpanel postfix/postdrop[6771]: warning: unable to look up public/pickup: No such file or directory
    Aug 3 13:16:32 cpanel postfix[6836]: fatal: bad string length 0 < 1: sendmail_path =
    Aug 3 13:19:13 cpanel postfix[7110]: fatal: bad string length 0 < 1: sendmail_path =

Sorry for the misleading 1st question.
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks
    G.

ok so I set as per the google result and continued
There were several parameters that were not set in the /etc/postfix/main.cf
After setting them this problem has been resolved.
    manpage_directory =
    html_directory =
    sample_directory =
    sendmail_path =
    newaliases_path =
    mailq_path =

I think that was all of these.
Are these not normally set by the installation?
    Just curious.
I'm not sure if postfix is working yet but at least it starts :)

    Thanks.
    G.

    Now I'm getting

(host 127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1] said: 451 4.3.0 id=02278-02-4 - Temporary MTA failure on relaying, from MTA(smtp:[127.0.0.1]:10025): 451 4.3.0 Error: queue file write error (in reply to end of DATA command))

    I'm googling...

I must say that I'm disappointed with Florian Schaal.
    He did this install.
I paid him for installing and migrating my installation.
Which are services that he offers.
After working with him for a little bit he left the job half done and didn't answer any more emails.
I offered to pay him more to finish the job but never got an answer.
Are there any more professional options?
Thank you for your help - I think I have everything working now.
    Best,
    G.

I've sent many many emails without getting an answer.
At this point I'm looking for anyone who would like to help me in a professional way.
I don't think I should have to write in this forum but I waited for weeks without any reply.
I even had a german friend call your number and we never got any help.

I've never had to set any of them manually and when you take a look at the ISPConfig installation instructions, then you see that they don't get (and don't have to be) set when you follow them. I've no idea why your postfix main.cf was that incomplete.

I've attached the main.cf and master.cf of a working Ubuntu 18.04 ISPConfig system as reference. I've just hat to rename them to .txt files for the upload.

I'm sorry to hear about your support issues and bad support experience. Please send me an email to info [at] ispconfig [dot] org with your contact details so I can check with Florian what went wrong with your setup and take care that it gets fixed.
