Ok I have been trying to setup systemimager on Ubuntu 8.04 for about a week using info off the internet. Needless to say Im pretty patient but cannot get it installed leave alone working . Is there any guide that works that would make this easier ? I have been through 12 server installs after experimenting with various different deb, tar,gz files. i have had dependencies missing and not installing properly , I have forced installs of deb files in an effort to give the stupid program its dependencies and ended up with trashed ubuntu server installs and had to start from scratch. Any chance of a Perfect systemimage server walkthough for people like me ? ( judging from the web there are plenty of us :O ) I'd even change to a different distro to get it working , however i do need to backup feisty fawn servers to it so ubuntu was the natural choice for the systemimager server ! thanks -cort
I already tried it , this is what i get :- Reading package lists... Error! E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room E: Error occurred while processing gimp-svg (NewVersion1) E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/security.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_feisty-security_universe_binary-i386_Packages E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
so i fixed that then i tried the install again and it failed on dependencies , so i forced install on dependantcies and tried install again. message :- Reading package lists... So after a bit more jerking around we decided to do the entire setup just as you had done on debian. So we spent the afternoon downloading and installing debian on the server , this is far as we got using the systemimager walkthrough install :- phobos:~# vi /etc/apt/sources.list phobos:~# apt-get update Get:1 http://ftp.debian.org etch Release.gpg [386B] Hit http://ftp.debian.org etch Release Ign http://ftp.debian.org etch/main Packages/DiffIndex Ign http://ftp.debian.org etch/main Sources/DiffIndex Hit http://ftp.debian.org etch/main Packages Get:2 http://download.systemimager.org stable Release.gpg [189B] Hit http://ftp.debian.org etch/main Sources Get:3 http://download.systemimager.org stable Release [38.3kB] Get:4 http://download.systemimager.org stable/main Packages [2249B] Get:5 http://security.debian.org etch/updates Release.gpg [189B] Hit http://security.debian.org etch/updates Release Ign http://security.debian.org etch/updates/main Packages/DiffIndex Ign http://security.debian.org etch/updates/contrib Packages/DiffIndex Ign http://security.debian.org etch/updates/main Sources/DiffIndex Ign http://security.debian.org etch/updates/contrib Sources/DiffIndex Hit http://security.debian.org etch/updates/main Packages Hit http://security.debian.org etch/updates/contrib Packages Hit http://security.debian.org etch/updates/main Sources Hit http://security.debian.org etch/updates/contrib Sources Fetched 40.8kB in 2s (14.9kB/s) Failed to fetch http://download.systemimager.org/debian/dists/stable/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz MD5Sum mismatch Reading package lists... That would be very appreciated . Anything that prevents more fist marks in the front of the server rack and the broken distro cd's on the floor in the server room would be very welcome. ~cort
