CentOS Perfect Setup Question Ok its been a while since I did anything Linux almost 2 years so please bare with my stupid questions that are probably obvious. My Setup I would like to have is a LAMP and FTP Server, I don't need Email *I use hotmail for all my email* and I don't think I need DNS either. Basicly I have signed up for the DNS Forwarder for somoene to point to my DHCP IP Address *Using Comcast Cable Modem* and using a LinkSys router that is going to port Forward 80/81/21/22 any other ports I need. Sorry its late at night. Basicly I want to play with Linux and have a main site running a CMS along with having PHPMyAdmin installed and make some virtual hosts. I'm sorry if I'm not making sense. Basicly. http://orcd3vil.homelinux.com -> My PC Main Site Then do like User Public Directories at: http://orcd3vil.homelinux.com/techman -> /home/techman/public_html Is that possible and do I need to use DNS for that? I'm sorry but its late and I know i'm not explaining it correctly if someone can just give me some info I would greatly appreciate it to help. Techman
Yes. Take a look here: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mod_userdir.html#userdir Well, orcd3vil.homelinux.com must point to your router's public IP address, but that seems to be the case already.
