Hi, i've just noticed i've made a mistake with system - server config - web - permissions for one of our webservers, i've got all the checkbox options for this section checked. the problem is the start ID for userid/webid connect, i've accidentally put in the wrong number for one webserver. the server already has clients and sites on it. what's the easiest way to fix this? to test changing it, i've tried creating some new clients/sites on a new server and then changing this setting for that server and resyncing everything, but it doesn't appear to have changed anything in the passwd or group files. i could just change this setting, manually edit these two files and change them, then go and chown all the web folders manually, but i'd rather not make manual changes like this. i realise it's not a big issue unless moving clients/sites between servers, but i have shared storage for all the webservers, so i want consistent uid's/gid's across all the servers thanks. lee.
This setting affects only new websites, not existing ones. If you have already sites with the wrong settings, then you have to change them manually.
ok. was afraid of that. do i need to follow any particular procedure? do i change the uid/gids on the existing sites, then the ispconfig settings, or change the ispconfig settings first? if i change the user uid's to eg 10000 to 10006, when creating a new client in ispconfig, will it automatically assign 10007 next, or do i need to set the starting number in the server config to the next available number?
