I have an x86_64 system but it does not have the EMT processors which are required for a 64 bit installation to run although it installs under VMWare Server. I have tried installing an 386 4.8 system but it can not find the disk drive. Help
UNABLE TO INSTALL cENT os 4 - 386 It is supposed to bne a SATA drive which is perplexing since thw vista cintro panel lists it as a WDC WD64 00AAKS-22A7B SCSI Device which Western didital no longer lists. It is also interesting that if I boot direcectely from the disk everything works OK. It is only when I try to install this under VMWare Server that I have this problem.
So you're trying to install CentOS 4 under VMware? In the properties of the virtual machine, delete the SATA or SCSI drive and add an IDE drive instead.
Well, The drive that is in the system is a SATA drive ad requirew 64 bit support. It is also not possible to change Hard Drive types in VMWare Server. How do I determine the options that can be passed to the kernel upon installation. Perhaps I can tell it not to use long mode? Thanks Robert
Unab le to install Centos 5.4 x86_64under vmware server I can install CentOS 5.4 x86_64 as a standalone application and it works fine. However, Whaen I attempt to install it under VMWare Server, the server reports that my machine does not support long mode and says to use a 32 bit version. This does not make sense to me. Any help appreciated.
