I am running suse 10.0 and the php version is 5.0.4 and I would like to upgrade to php 5.2.5. It seems that suse no longer is updating suse 10.0 and the alternative is upgrade to suse 10.1 or 10.2 which I don't want to do because of the problems that this may cause. I have downloaded PHP 5.2.5 tar.gz but do not know how to install it. Do I ovewright the php5 that I already have in place? Is their a HOWTO on this that I have Missed shajazzi
Please follow the link. It should help http://laffers.net/howtos/howto-install-php please post a reply after it works so that others who face the problem can use the same. Regards Nidhin Tomson

Thanks falko, After seaching I found the LDAP devel package but couldn't install it without additional packages which I found, but they will not install without more required packages and this goes on and on and on and on. I have many Linux discs including suse 10.0,10.1 and 10.2. Can I remove the php5 packages in YAST then install another version of php5 staight from the disc? say from suse10.1 or maybe a Debian disc? shajazzi
You can try the ones from SUSE, but not from Debian. Have you tried YaST to install the package? IT should resolve all dependencies automatically.
