I updated my mandriva 2009.0 system to xfce 4.6.1 and the install went fine. but when I got to the desktop there was not a menu icon for the drop down list next to places and no right-click on the desktop. Therefore I cannot run settings-manager to configure the desktop nor can I run any applications because I have no menu for them. Someone said to make sure xfdesktop is running but I have no Idea how to check for it or run it. I really need to run desktop manager so I can add a wallpaper and config windows etc. Plz help.
I'm no XFCE expert, but have you tried to right-click on the desktop? The menu might have what you're looking for.
No I couldn't right-click on the desktop. I was able to fix the problem by compiling and installing the xfdesktop package and rebooting.
