Hi guys, is it safe to upgrade the operating system from Debian 9 (Stretch) to 10 (Buster)? Is there any guide? I looked to see if there are any posts about it but I didn't find any. Actually I have ISPConfig 3.1.15 installed and "Linux webserver 4.9.0-8-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.144-3.1 (2019-02-19) x86_64 GNU/Linux". That's my uname -a output: No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Debian Description: Debian GNU/Linux 9.11 (stretch) Release: 9.11 Codename: stretch I'm running only webserver and ftp service, with PHP 7.0.33, mysql Ver 15.1 Distrib 10.1.41-MariaDB. Thank you for any answer, Thomas
How safe do you need it to be? Yes there is: https://www.debian.org/releases/stable/releasenotes Take backups of your current setup first. Take disk image backup also if possible. Then upgrade Debian following the Release Notes upgrade process. Then read the ISPConfig Perfect Server Guide for Debian Buster, and check all packages mentioned there are installed and configurations are what that manual says. Finally force reconfigure services with ISPConfig upgrade script, search this forum on how to do that.
