Upgrading mysql-server with apt-get fails

    Does anyone know the solution?

    is the '/var/cache/debconf' directory present? have you removed anything by hand?

    if it is not present, you could try to create it by `mkdir -p /var/cache/debconf` and then run `apt-get update && apt-get upgrade`
