Hi everybody, Might be a stupid question, but I can't seem to figure out how (end)users are able to change the DNS settings for their domain. Can this be done? Let's say that someone wants to purchase just a domainname, he/she should be able to edit their settings right? Thanks in advance, Regards, Jeroen.
End users can not change their domain DNS settings. No. They can change their website settings, not the DNS. How many users will deconnect their webspaces and call the support hotline when being able to change the DNS settings. If your users shall change their DNS, you must simply add them as resellers, not as customers. Resellers are customers that are able to create and manage their domains themself.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to atleast have this optional for (end)users? Adding users to resellers can be confusing. If there's just an option wether a user can or cannot manage DNS that'd be great!
In ISPConfig 3 you can add DNS management to every account. In ISPConfig 2 it will be difficult to add due to the permission system.
No I hope it will be in 2006. Maybe we have a first alpha in 6 months. The current status is: General Framework: 80% finished DNS Manager: 90% finished Email: 90% finished Websites: not yet started FTP: not yet started Shell Users: not yet started Customers / resellers: 30% finished
Everyone is welcome Please read this post on how to start ISPConfig development: http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135 You will receive then the login data for the ISPConfig 2 and the ISPConfig 3 SVN repository.
