Using GUI easier to create files that I can use to learn my way around the Command line?

    I'm learning to use the command line. Would it be a good idea to use the GUI to create folders and directories that I can later play around with in the Command line?

    If you want to learn the command line, stay on the command line ;) You can createh directories (same as folders) on the cli.

    here's the thing. In my labs I use all the lab provided files and so I don't really connect with them. I'm thinking that personalizing my own machine would make it more conducive to my learning.

    You can personalize your machine from the CLI aswell
