    Hi everyone!
I recently installed LAMP using the following tutorial http://www.howtoforge.com/ubuntu_lamp_for_newbies
I managed to install everything and follow all the steps through but have a few questions - bear with me i'm a complete noob when it comes to these things :)

Firstly how do I access the installed programs such as mysql (to create a database) and phpmyadmin - I don't see it in the launcher bar on the ubuntu version i'm using, is there a command to do that?

Secondly, I am trying to install a site locally but can't bring up the site in my browser to begin the installation - the files are in my download folder, i've tried to point to that address but it didn't work. When I point to localhost this is what I get:

"This is the default web page for this server.

The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet."

I don't see a list of folders or anything.

Thanks for reading - hopefully someone can help me!

I found out how to launch phpmyadmin here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1238363
Now its just the issue of bringing up the files in my browser so I can install the software.
    Any help much appreciated.

**EDIT** I managed to solve the problem by moving the files to my /var/www/ folder in ubuntu.
